Recently, Mel, my cousin, Clara, and I had a spring playdate. Originally, I had envisioned an emphasis on Peter Rabbit and Mr. McGregor’s garden (because I’m obsessed with Beatrix Potter-thank you, Polly), but as planning went along, gardening and vegetables seemed to emerge as the theme, and that is the direction our playdate took. Peter took a backseat, but he still made an appearance. I will share more about that in part 2.
But forget Peter. Let’s talk about the star of our playdate: Clara’s baked goods. To accompany our vegetable garden theme, I asked Clara to make cookies for the kids (ok, and for the adults, too) that looked like vegetables. I thought it would be fun to have small cake as well.
Clara delivered. Like, excuse me while I get overly dramatic over here, but CLARA DELIVERED!!! I know she’s an incredibly talented baker. I’ve been following her blog for quite some time and have seen her creations in person. But, when she walked up with carrot, radish, and lettuce cookies, my heart skipped a beat. Talent. Raw talent. And the icing on the cake was quite literally icing on the cake. She designed this beautiful, small cake to look like a garden, complete with tiny carrots, radishes, and lettuce.
Her creations were almost too beautiful to eat, but let’s be honest. We ate them, and they were delicious.
So, my point is this: Everyone stop what you are doing and immediately go follow Clara over at (Sim)fully Sweet. She’s on Instagram, too at @simfully.sweet. You can follow all of her amazingness there.
If you are local and want to place an order with her, you can contact her through her blog or e-mail her at email@example.com.
Lastly, can someone start a petition to get Clara to quit her day job? This girl needs to open up her own bakery ASAP! #amiright
Be on the lookout for Part 2 of this playdate where I will share some more of our activities. Thank you for reading! It always makes my day when someone says to me that they follow our blog or read a post we wrote. It’s so encouraging, and it’s fun to share ideas with you all.
